Calar Alto Observatory promotes professional-amateur (ProAm) collaboration by making its 1.23 m telescope available to advanced amateur astronomers to investigate exoplanets and Solar System objects. The Urania Group of the Agrupación Astronómica de Sabadell, which has extensive experience in the study of exoplanet transits with the CAHA 1.23 m telescope, among other facilities, has recently been awarded the Javier Gorosabel Prize in recognition of its work in the field of ProAm collaboration.

De la investigación a la práctica: las madres de la ciencia

un proyecto piloto que une investigación y divulgación educativa con un enfoque social e inclusivo. La iniciativa se desarrolló en el barrio de El Puche (Almería) en los meses de noviembre y diciembre de 2025.

Calar Alto Observatory and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at University of Zagreb have signed an agreement to collaborate on education and research. After the agreement on the large project of an accelerator of particles (IFMIF-DONES) in Granada, this is another example of scientific collaboration between Spain and Croatia.

The University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (UNIZG FER) and Centro Astronómico Hispano en Andalucia (CAHA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU was signed with the objective of promoting academic cooperation in education and research and it was signed by the UNIZG FER Dean Professor Dr. Vedran Bilas and the CAHA Director Dr. Jesús Aceituno Castro.

The 6^th international contest of astrophotography, astronomical drawing and timelapse of the Calar Alto Observatory was a success, with nearly a hundred works received until September 12^th -- an unusually late deadline due to the COVID-19 pandemics.

Over a hundred works have been presented to the Calar Alto 5^th international contest of astrophotography, astronomical drawing and timelapse. After five years, the contest consolidated itself as one of the most prestigious on the national and international scene.
